The Middle Tennessee Council is partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee and its affiliated agencies for the 2014 Scouting for Food Service Project.   This year, the program will be a coordinated effort in February, a time of year that food banks indicate a greater need for donations.   The Middle Tennessee Council will be providing patches to the first 3,000 participating Registered Scouts and Adult Registered Leaders who return their Summary Sheet form for this event. 

On February 1st, units will deliver notification hangers to their selected neighborhood areas.  On February 8th, from 9AM-12PM, units will collect the donations and drop them off at their appointed drop-off locations.  Please make sure to follow the transportation guidelines that are explained in the Guide to Safe Scouting during this event (especially those prohibiting riding in the back of pick-up trucks and the use of seat belts).   At the end of the collections, units should count or weigh the number of donated items that they are turning in.  This number is needed for the completion of the final summary sheet. 

Units then need to fill out the Summary Sheet which must be submitted to the Council Service Center no later than March 20, 2014.  Once the Summary Sheet is complete it may be emailed, mailed or faxed to the Council Service Center.  Units are also reminded to enter their service hours in the Journey to Excellence service hour website.
