MTC College of Commissioner Science
 

Commissioner Service in the Middle Tennessee Council strives to help each unit be the best it can be and our commissioners deserve the very best tools to help them succeed in the ever-changing world of Scouting. The College of Commissioner Science takes all commissioners beyond the basic training, further developing critical leadership, coaching and communication skills. This year, the College of Commissioner Science will be a virtual event, held on Saturday, November 7, 2020, from 7:45am to 4pm.  The last day to register is October 25, and the cost of the event is $25.00.  Join us this year for updated degree programs and advanced studies!

Cub Scout Dayz at Boxwell

Shooting Sports Days
 

Shooting Sports Days are a special opportunity for new Scouts to attend one of their first district events with their friends and to make new ones! The focus is for every Scout to have a safe and fun day where they have the opportunity to participate in Archery & BB instruction, as well as other activities such as hiking, camping, or even a Cubmobile race. Several districts have already held their fun Shooting Sports Days and several more will be held in the coming weeks. Silver Beaver Nominations

Do you know of an outstanding volunteer Scout leader that should be recognized for exceptional service to the Middle Tennessee Council?  We are currently accepting applications for the Silver Beaver award.  The Silver Beaver Award is a council level, distinguished service award created in 1931.  Recipients of this award are registered Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the Council.  You can access the nomination here, and all applications are due by November 30, 2020.


 

Eagle Scout and Volunteer Recognition Reception

The Middle Tennessee Council annually holds an Eagle Scout and Volunteer Recognition Reception. We were unable to hold the reception in 2020, but we have scheduled the reception for Sunday, April 25, 2021, starting at 1:30 p.m. at Lipscomb University - Allen Arena. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend to help celebrate the achievements of the Eagle Scouts and recognize our Silver Beaver recipients.

During the Eagle Scout and Volunteer Recognition we will honor the achievements of our 2019 and 2020 Eagle Scouts as well as the 2020 and 2021 Silver Beaver recipients.

Silver Beaver nominations need to be submitted by November 30, 2020 to the MTC Service Center.

2020 MTC, BSA Extravaganza

On Friday, October 30th through Thursday, November 5th, the Middle Tennessee Council will host the 20th Annual Extravaganza and for the first time the event will take place virtually. The Extravaganza raises funds for local Scouting programs in Middle Tennessee. We will have a wide array of items to bid on and you can help us raise funds to build future leaders in our community!!

The Extravaganza will offer multiple special items that will be streamed live and can be bid on the night of November 5th.

2020 University of Scouting
 

What CAN we do? The cabinet of the Middle Tennessee Council’s 2020 University of Scouting would like for you to join us at BOXWELL in person or via ZOOM on November 14th for the largest single-day supplemental training event in the Council! This fun-filled, action packed event is open to all Cub Scout leaders, Scouts BSA, Venturing youth and OA.  We are teaching leaders at all program levels, district, council volunteers, and parents. Whether new to Scouting or a veteran of many years, all who attend will leave with new ideas, fresh perspectives and practical information to take back to their program area. The University is diverse, inclusive, and dedicated to providing meaningful sessions that will help improve or enhance programs for our youth. Titans Greeter Program
 

The Middle Tennessee Council of the Boy Scouts of America is excited to announce a special limited offer with the Tennessee Titans!  This is your chance to show your support for both organizations! 

During this season, we are asking a limited number of Scouts of all ages and their families to come out to each Home Game and participate in the Titans Fan Greeter and Giveaway program. This opportunity will allow Scouts the chance to greet fellow Titans fans at the gate and give each of them a giveaway item for attending the game (such as a t-shirt, football, etc).  We will need approximately 30-40 people at each game (Numbers may vary depending on approved fan attendance levels) Attendees will be given credentials, which will allow the Scouts access into the stadium via a concourse pass.  There will also be a limited number of parking passes available. Please register by contacting Donna Vaughn at 615.463.6310 or dvaughn@mtcbsa.org for more information.

 

 

Winter Camp 2020

Get ready for Winter Camp 2020 for Scouts BSA!! We are continuing the Merit Badge Days format and will allow your Scout the chance to work on a merit badge, rank advancement or a new trek designed for your Scouts to get a taste of the fun in these areas. The cost is $45 per day, a hearty lunch, patch and virtual campfire created by the Order of the Arrow are all included. Sign up now by clicking here. Round TUIT October 17 at Boxwell Reservation

The Round TUIT program has really taken off and has been a great thing for Boxwell Reservation. On October 17 from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m. we will be working on the building blocks of Scouting… . that’s correct we will be at Cubworld.  We will be

  • Working on the pirate docks
  • Painting
  • Working on the Fort
  • The entrance
  • Moving brush
  • Bb and Archery ranges
  • Pressure washing ( if you have on please bring one)
  • Cabins, Dining Hall, Castle, Pirate ships

Middle Tennessee Council 100th Anniversary Update

On March 1, 2020 the Middle Tennessee Council turned 100 years old. To help celebrate this milestone throughout the year, the Council’s 100th Anniversary Committee developed many activities and events. Like most things during the pandemic, the best laid plans have changed more than any of us could have imagined. This has been true with our 100th Anniversary celebration of the Middle Tennessee Council. However, we are committed to celebrate all the Council has done over its 100 years of existence.

As we look ahead, we continue to plan to hold these special events for this milestone. We will reactivate and shift the 100th Anniversary programs and events to restart in early 2021:
